Smelled fresh cookies from the alley and had to stop by! Very cool to see the fortune cookies hand folded by staff. Owner was very gracious and let folks in line sample some hot fresh cookie thins (unfolded version) coming off the press! I got an assorted bag that came with a cute free tote - very durable too. Then the owner threw in a pleasant surprise of a handful more of fresh cookie thins into my bag! Great visit in Chinatown. The green tea flavor was my favorite, though strawberry and regular are also good. I thought it was funny the fortunes are written in English and French (no Chinese).

This was a must stop in Chinatown ! I gotta thank my Uber driver for flying like a bat out of hell to get me there before they closed. He pulled over I looked up the alley and said where is this place started walking up the alley, which is very very cool. I looked to my left and in front of me was the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Company ! I walked in and was greeted cheerfully, and I seen an older lady sitting in a machine making fortune cookies, and the gentleman that spoke to me was super nice. This is such a small little business and I really think is the only business of its kind here in the United States. It's historical for sure. The machines that make the fortune cookies are so unique how it's being ran and the older lady I don't wanna call her. A grandma is just focused on cookie after cookie after cookie. God bless her. Naturally, I had to leave there with a bag of fortune cookies, and another bag of the flat fortune, cookies and a bag of the naughty fortune cookies and they put them in a very nice carrying bag. The gentleman also gave me a couple of the flat fortune cookies to enjoy, and I shared them with my Uber driver and let me say they are the best. There is nothing that you would get in a restaurant that compares to these being freshly made on a daily basis. The ambience gives you that sense of actually being in China on a side street where they make all the goodies. I want to say thank you to welcoming me into your shop and I was able to protect the cookies while flying home. A couple of them got crunched but 90% survived and they are outstanding.

Long line for fresh cookies. Lots of tourists. But the line goes fast. They give out samples while you wait. The smell of fresh baked fortune cookies is wonderful. Get yourself both fortune cookies and cookie flats. Once the novelty of getting a fortune wears off , the cookie flat is an easier way to enjoy the crunch of the cookie.

There was a long slow line out the door. It was a cute little gem, but definitely can't find any parking. It's located inside an alley in Chinatown. I got a box of variety fortune cookies box, and it was $13.50. I also got coin size bag for $4.50. Came with a cute bag that was $1. I personally like the coin cookies better than the fancy box with variety flavors. I didn't really tasted any flavors then plan fortune cookie. They offered free samples as I waited in line. I didn't know that the long slow line was to build your own personal box. If I knew this I would have just cut everyone, and got the prepackaged fortune cookie Togo without waiting in the line. It was nice to see the cute old lady making fresh fortune cookie tho. Wish they make 2 lines in the future, so the line will go alot faster.
